Author Clinton Bland, a 26-year-old South Carolina native, spent the last few years playing football in Europe.  Years prior to his European sports days, he passed time in South and Central America where he became fluent in Spanish.  It is from these time periods that he provides a different perspective into the epidemic.  Bland grew up loving sports and the outdoors and attended college on an athletic scholarship.  Receiving a degree in Information Systems and a minor in Spanish, Bland proved not to be your stereotypical “athlete.”  Bland continues to train, pursuing his athletic endeavors while teaching Spanish and creating and maintaining web pages.  Bland is single and currently resides in North Carolina.
